New Video, Pages

I just uploaded two pages from Vol. 1 of our new "Cake Decorating Made Easy!" 2-Volume set. The second page contains a link to another "how-to" video. The production of this video is slightly different than the first one, so we'd really appreciate your feedback.

Look to the right column, under LINKS, and click on "Sneak Peek Page (New)". After you check it out, come back and click on the word, "COMMENTS" next to my name at the bottom of this post, and let us know how the video worked for you.

And, if you haven't already, please sign up for priority notification over there on the right. Thanks, and we look forward to hearing from you!
Michael

Watching videos is a very easy way to learn. I can't wait to see the finished product. I did find, however, that there was a couple of instances when the lady talked much quieter and I needed to turn up the sound to hear what she was saying and then turn it back down. But other than that job well done. Thank you!

Better job than the first. Very well done. Each step clearly explained and performed. One note that I use - if anyone doesn't have that particular icing tip - I use just the coupler it has a nice large opening.

I liked this second video much more than the first. The girl seemed more comfortable this time and I am no expert but I feel she should have had the top off of her container of strawberry spread before applying it to the cake..she kinda fumbled with it at first. Great job though in the demo! Debby

This was a good video clip. I was waiting for her to tell what consistency of icing should be used around the edges but I am assuming thick. Keep working on the steadiness of the camera and I know the final product will be great.

Love this video!! The close up camera work made it even better than the first one. Really learned a lot by both reading the pages and watching. Can't wait for the new combo eBook and video clips to come out. Thanks!

You've made a task, something everybody will now want to do. Watch out all you bakers & cake decorators. Your job has just been outsourced!

The video was easy to understand to the point every 10 year old will be selling cakes instead of lemonade this summer!!

Hi Rose,

To watch the video, find the "LINKS" column on the right side of the blog.

Click on "Sneak Peek Pages (New)".

Download the 2 new pages and go to the bottom of the second page.

Just click on the blue link that reads, "Click here to watch the "Filling Your Cake" video."

If your link is not active, you may simply need a more current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader.

You'll need Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.5 (or later) to open and read the files (pages). If you're unsure which version you have, or you'd like to have the latest version, (it's free), click HERE.

Once everything is downloaded, simply open Adobe Acrobat, then, from within Adobe Acrobat, go to "File," then "Open." Find the file you'd like to open and double click it.

Good luck!

I loved the video. No shaking and very good explanation. I am a big video/dvd buyer when it comes to crafts. I do much better watching than just reading. To have both in writing and visual would be awesome. I did not get to see the first video but this one was great.

Keep up the good work! I really enjoy your e-mails with tips.

This video clip was wonderful. I am more of a visual learning than a reading learner. I hope there will be a video to show how to apply smooth icing to cakes before applying decorations. You are doing a wonderful job. Thanks and God Bless!

The video is very good. The audio could be a tad better. Some parts I couldn't quite catch. This will get better as the demonstrator gains more confidence. I'll also turn my sound up a notch. Keep them coming.

I didn't see the first video, but this one was very good. I made a wedding cake a month ago and the bride wanted strawberry filling. I had never done that before, but what the bride wants, the bride gets. By trial and error I ended up making a dam, but not piping it. your technique is so much better. I wish I had this info before that cake, But now I know for the next one. Thanks so much! Sue

I didn't get to view all of the first video. The second one took a long time to download but I did get to see it to the finish. It was very good except for a couple of times I had to replay it to catch what the lady said. The video shows much better what to do than just guessing for those who never filled a cake.

Instructions say to place the cake layer with the bottom up when stacking, does that mean only the top layer? Does it make any difference about the other layer if it is bottom up or not?

Thanks so much for all the tips! Looking forward for more.

This was an excellent video, very informative and nicely done. I learned a lot too. Keep up the good work.

When layering or torting cakes, it's always
best to put your best side facing up. Your
cake will stack more evenly if you're always
starting with the most level base possible.

In a layer cake when you're simply stacking
individually baked cakes, the best side is
generally the bottom side (unless the bottom
stuck to the pan in places and you have
patched holes.)

So, to put it briefly, "Bottoms Up!"

Wow! The video clip is excellent, and your presentation style so natural and clear. As I am in Australia, I would love to know which part of the States you come from, so that I can identify the accent.

Congratulations.

I am new to the site and have quite a bit of questions soI am so glad I bumped into it. It's been so helpful. I've recently purchased the strip but had no clue how to use it, so your video info was good, I haven't tried it yet. I missed your info on how to ice a smooth cake, plse send me this info, also do you insert the flower nail in the cake batter or after it's halfway done? Thanks.

The first video: I struggled to see it through. It kept on stopping waiting for the streaming to catch up. I'm on full bandwidth so I'm not sure what happened.
